Toolbox Talks

We conduct weekly field safety training every Friday morning called "Toolbox talks'. This consists of a safety talk presenting facts or hazard awareness to prevent injuries. We cover a number of important safety topics to keep our crew members safe and their knowledge refreshed.

  • A fall prevention system is required when work is being done at a height above six feet or where a fall less than six feet involves a great risk of injury.
  • Setting an anchor is a pivotal role in the functionality of a fall prevention system. It is absolutely critical that anchors are securely fastened in place and will be able to successfully be able to bear the load it is protecting.
  • Flat and low sloped roofs are evaluated on how best to eliminate the risk of a fall.
  • Guardrails are used to create physical barriers from edges.
  • Safe use of ladders when working is stressed.

Ladder Care

  • Ladders are properly maintained and are inspected prior to use.
  • Employees are prohibited from ladders that are broken, missing steps, rungs, cleats, or any other faculty equipment.
  • Ladder rungs and steps must be free of grease and oil.
  • Ladders must be free from set-up on a solid and level surface and are prohibited to be placed in front of doors.
  • Face the ladder when ascending or descending. Do not stand on the top rung of the ladder and always maintain three points of contact.
